Gippsland will come alive this summer with outdoor adventures and exploration activities that will entertain, educate and inspire throughout the holiday break. As the summer sun shines down, scenic Gippsland will be bursting with diverse activities from the rugged coastal edge to the luscious green mountain tops.

 

Celebrating the region's spectacular coast, Gippsland will be hosting Summer by the Sea featuring 300 exciting children's activities that venture into another world of dinosaurs and beneath the surface discoveries in the intricate rock pools. Kids can cook up a Mexican feast or Asian banquet at Kids in the Kitchen with Jacican while families can weave their way through the inspiring Buchan Caves to enter a land of calcite-rimmed pools and magic. Combined with the breathtaking natural experiences of walking routes through scenic National Parks and water-based activities down on the Lakes, families will be spoiled for choice throughout the Gippsland region this summer.

 

Summer by the Sea

Inverloch will be buzzing with hundreds of free guided activities for the ultimate Summer by the Sea experience. Kids will be able to explore and discover Victoria's marine and coastal environment with a range of exciting activities lined up over the school holidays. Taking a step back in time, kids can go on a dinosaur exploration, unravelling the mystery of dinosaurs living around Inverloch or, explore the rocky shores of the Bunurong Coast and what lies beneath the ocean with Rockpool Ramble.

Summer School Holiday Program

Bunurong Coast Education program will be hosting activities for families across the school holidays to meet the busy summer demands. Including the Dinosaur Discovery and Rock pool Ramble adventures; this school holiday program also features an Astronomy activity to explore the clear Gippsland night sky while Wildlife Spotlighting takes kids on an exploration through bushland to find the creatures of the night. Families will be entertained by local musicians with donations supporting the SGCS tree planting program.

Kids in the Kitchen at Jacican

Hosting daily cooking classes for 8 to 12 year olds, kids will be taught how to cook lunch in various cuisines from Mexican to Italian and Asian. Once they explore the different flavours and basic kitchen techniques around the kitchen, the kids set the table for a shared lunch to celebrate. This class aims to teach kids how to become more confident in the kitchen from cooking to cleaning up.

Buchan Caves

Near the township of Buchan is a world of honeycomb caves full of intricate limestone formations created by underground rivers and rain water seeping through the cracks. From beautiful calcite-rimmed pools in the Royal Cave to the elaborate magical Fairy Cave, families can embark on a guided tour for the ultimate nature based experience.

Croajingolong National Park

Croajingolong National Park boasts diverse landscapes of white coastal beaches to granite peaks surrounded by luscious rainforests. Stretching across 100 kilometres, this park comes alive in summer with native plants and over 300 bird species. The diverse terrains allow for spectacular hiking and water sport activities such as, kayaking and snorkelling or, exploration into the mountain with bike riding and 4WD touring for adrenalin packed adventure.

Lakes Entrance Sea Safari

Visitors to Gippsland can venture through the remote waterways of Lakes Entrance with a Sea Safari eco tour. Leaving from the Post Office Jetty, the research vessel takes guests on one of two tours - a two and half hour Rigby Island Sea Safari tour or, an hour and a half Oean Entrance Sea Safari tour. Spot sea birds, sea horses and various marine life as kids record their findings on a take home worksheet.
