Stratamark

If you thought there's no proven treatment for stretch marks, you'd be right... until now!

Stratamark, the new breakthrough stretch mark product, is now available in Australia.

Introducing Stratamark, the first clinically proven, TGA registered, medical product specifically forumlated for the prevention and treatment of stretch marks. Developed and manufactured by Swiss-based company, Stratpharma AG, Stratamark is a unique breakthrough formulation, clinically proven to prevent and treat stretch marks - both old and new.

Stratamark, which is now available at pharmacies, prevents new stretch marks from forming, softens and flattens existing raised stretch marks, reduces redness and discolouration, and relieves itching and discomfort associated with stretch mark.

It is an odourless transparent gel that dries to form a thin, flexible and protective gel sheet that is gas permeable and waterproof. Stratmark works by allowing the skin to normalise the collagen synthesis cycle, while hydrating and protecting the skin.

Alcohol, fragrance and paraben free, Stratamark does not penetrate below the level of the stratum corneum (top layer of the skin), making it suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women as well as children and people with sensitive skin.

About Stretch Marks

Although the cause for developing stretch marks is not fully understood, it is thought to be due to hormonal imbalance and an abnormal change in the underlying tissue of the skin, coupled with an increase of the physical stretching of the skin.

Stretch marks may result from pregnancy, obesity, weight gain or loss, and in some instances puberty or steroid use. While not considered determinal to health, there can be phyiscal discomfort experienced with stretch marks such as itchniess, tenderness and pain. Additionally, it's common to feel sensitive and self-conscious about the visibility of stretch marks.

The Stats
Stretch marks are two and a half times more frequent in women and affect up to 90% of pregnant women, with most control groups showing between 60% and 70% developed during pregnancy, depening on the population studied.

What The Studies Show About Stratmark

An open lable, prospective, cohort study condutcted in Europe
:
81.8% of patients completed the study without developing stretch marks after using Stratamark (compared to 39% of patients not using Stratmark).
Only mld to moderate stretch marks were observed among the 18.2% who did develop stretch marks with no severe or very severe cases reported.
Up to 90% expereinced an improvement in colour, visibility and itching of their existing stretch marks.

Ongoging prospective cohort study conducted by Dr. Chris Hughes, Women's and Children's Hosptial, North Adelaide.
According to Dr. Hughes, although his trial is still ongoing, the prelimiary results indicate that Stratmark is effective in preventing and treating stretch marks; that there are fewer women getting stretch marks while using Stratamark; and that, in those women who have gotten stretch marks, their apperance is less severe.

When asked what the key difference is between Stratmark and other products on the market, Dr. Hughes stated that while some people might find benefit in using other preperations, these products have not been rigorously tested.

"Some women are very sensitive about the appearance of stretch marks, and are conscious of the visibility of stretch marks while wearing swimwear or certain clothing. A treatment to reduce the appearance of stretch marks can be very positive in restoring confidence in these patients," says Dr. Hughes.

There are also other ongoing studies at major tertiary insitituions across Australia and the results of these will be available soon.
