On Wednesday 10th November over 500 women including some of Australia's elite female sports stars will move to the beat of hypnotic Latin rhythms to participate in a Zumba fitness class to mark the official launch of Sport for Women Day 2011.
Coinciding with the centenary of International Women's Day, Women's Hour will go national with an Australian Zumba craze on 6th March 2011 as part of Sport for Women Day celebrations. On this day, thousands of Australians - both male and female - are expected to converge on Sydney Olympic Park and live sites in Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, and Darwin to participate in Women's Hour, an hour-long fitness class, featuring the new craze Zumba.
The fitness class is just one of two events being organised as part of Sport for Women Day. The day is designed to energise the women of Australia and inspire them to seek improved health, increased participation in sport and empowerment to address women's issues in sport and generally.
