Outdoor museum Sovereign Hill will come alive with the sounds of bleating, baa-ing, and squawking as they welcome a range of animals to the outdoor museum these September school holidays.
Visitors can get up close and personal with a range of animals including donkeys, baby piglets, lambs and magnificent birds of prey while learning how animals contributed to life on the goldfields in the 1850s.
A number of activities will be available from September 17th-October 2nd including:
• Meet the Beaks, meet two of Sovereign Hill's birds of prey at close range including a magnificent Barn Owl
• Animals on the Goldfields, meet and pat lambs and piglets, and help feed the goats on this guided tour
• Hunters of the Skies: watch as some of the awesome birds, including an eagle, raptor, kestrel and owl, go through their paces, and learn about these amazing predators
• Cow Milking and Butter Churning: Learn how Sovereign Hill's house cow Kyara is milked by hand and then see how butter is made the old-fashioned way!
• Animal Safari: Over at the Gold Museum, go on a self-guided tour, spotting some wildlife along the way and get a gold chocolate coin when you answer all of the questions!
• Special school holiday activities include animal craft activities, gingerbread decorating, garden tours, a Jack and the Beanstalk pantomime and more!
• Along with the animal adventures visitors will still be able to enjoy all of Sovereign Hill's classic activities including gold panning, mine tours, coach rides, candle dipping, bowling and more!
