Sony Ericsson P800 voted Best Mobile Phone of the YearSony Ericsson's flagship mobile phone, the P800, was named Best Mobile Phone of the Year at the prestigious Australian Telecom Magazine Awards last night.
At the ceremony in Sydney, the Sony Ericsson P800 was selected by industry peers for its advanced imaging, connectivity and entertainment features. The ceremony was attended by Senator Richard Alston, Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts and telecoms industry leaders and representatives.
The Award recognises Sony Ericsson's innovation and excellence in producing cutting edge mobile phones.
Melinda Heckels, Sony Ericsson Marketing Manager said: "We are honoured and delighted that the P800 has been recognised by our peers as the truly innovative and exceptional product that it is.
"The P800 represents the leadership and diversity of our brand in the Smartphone segment and demonstrates the market leading technology and how we can draw on the strengths of our two parent companies, Sony and Ericsson.
"The phone combines technology and content such as the Memory Stick Duo from Sony, games and content from Sony Computer Entertainment, Sony Music and Columbia TriStar and Ericsson's leadership in the network and engineering space."
The P800, launched in Australia in March 2003, was the most hotly anticipated multimedia phone to hit the market. It was the first product to combine a mobile phone with PDA functionality and an in-built camera. This truly outstanding mobile phone has a crystal clear large colour screen perfect for accessing work files, writing and sending emails, browsing the Internet, playing videos and games.
"This award is a sign of things to come for Sony Ericsson. We are launching an exciting range of new handsets in Australia and we are looking forward to further successes in the future," added Ms Heckels.
