October is Mental Health Awareness Month and Smiling Mind will be holding an annual awareness campaign from October 10 - October 31 to encourage people to -Close Your Eyes to Open your Mind', to create a mindful movement that promotes positive mental health and wellbeing through mindfulness meditation.
They recently released results from a large trial testing their mindfulness meditation Education Program in school classrooms that was found to significantly improve the mental health and wellbeing of students and teachers. The goal is to see everyday Australians use mindfulness meditation throughout their lives, starting from a young age, and to have mindfulness meditation on the National School Curriculum by 2020.
Smiling Mind's unique web and app-based mindfulness meditation programs are developed by leading psychologists and educators to help bring balance to people's lives, with many free and accessible programs via the website smilingmind.com.au or the app, for adults and children.
The national campaign this October encourages individuals to join the mindful movement and take a selfie while -smiling with their eyes closed' meditating, and make it their profile picture on Facebook and Instagram from October 10 to 31. This will show people are actively taking steps to look after their mental health, while sharing online with hashtags #closeyoureyestoopenyourmind and #smilingmind will help others join the movement to promote better mental health and wellbeing.
