Shirting is no longer just about men. In fact, shirts seem to be the new fashion genre for Australian women.
Since opening in late March, one of Australias newest shirting concept stores, Shirt Studio (Brisbane) says it has been inundated by female shirt buyers wanting to be taken seriously in the corporate workplace or just wanting casual weekend wear.
Striking Italian made and Italian fabric shirts are walking out the door with Shirt Studio owner, Fiona Anchal saying their customer base is basically 50 percent men and 50 percent women for both casual and corporate shirting.
Fiona attributes the demand for corporate shirting to women wanting to be taken seriously in the workplace.
If a female wants to rub fashionable shoulders with the CEOs, MDs or senior management of big corporate companies which still tend to be fairly male dominated - then she knows that her fashion sense has to match corporate standards, Fiona said.
As a result of demand for womens shirting, Shirt Studio is expanding its womens range of shirting to include up to 80 different shirts for women.
Fiona says women are looking for shirts that have striking colours and a well cut style. Plus, she says, in Australia, females have not been readily able to buy Italian shirting.
Womens shirting is huge in Italy particularly during the past two years, when Italian style has changed womens mindsets to view the shirt as the new tshirt.
We are getting recurring feedback from female shoppers delighted that finally shirting isnt all about men. They want flattering, well cut designs that are elegant and sexy, she said.
One of the latest trends Shirt Studio has experienced is demand for longer styles that give a leaner look and match the lower cut, hipster style pants of today.
Shirt Studio currently stocks a choice of over 65 different womens shirts. All shirts are manufactured exclusively in Italy for Shirt Studio. With the largest variety of womens shirting in Brisbane, Shirt Studios womens sizes range from eight to 18, with prices starting from $79.Shirt Studio also carries a range of cufflinks, ties and pasha minas, which have also proved popular with female shoppers.
