Calendar Girls director Nigel Cole assembled a first-rate cast for his feel-good comedy-drama, based on a 1968 strike by women machinists at Dagenham's Ford motor plant. Sally Hawkins (Happy-Go-Lucky) is the plucky heroine, with Bob Hoskins, Miranda Richardson and Rosamund Pike uniformly excellent in supporting roles.
