Sampology Hits 42nd Street for The Tom Tom Crew's debut Broadway season!
Brisbane-based star-on-the-rise, Sampology continues on his path to global success, landing in New York this week for the debut season of Strut & Fret's 'The Tom Tom Crew' at Manhattan's New Victory Theatre.
Best described as "daredevil hip hop theatre", The Tom Tom Crew comprises an all Australian cast of Sampology, pioneering his unique and dynamic audio-visual turntablism, joined by world-class beatboxer Tom Thum, leading Australian percussionist and music director Ben Walsh, Flying-Fruit Circus graduates Ben Lewis, Daniel Catlow and Shane Witt, and competitive Australian gymnast Karl Stock.
Following international critical acclaim, sold-out shows and a myriad of recent accolades at the Adelaide and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals, the Tom Tom Crew debut Broadway season opens this Friday May 29th through June 14th. The Tom Tom Crew then hits London in June for a season The Underbelly, followed by a season at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this August.
Creative Director of Strut n Fret, Scott Maidment, said of Sampology's appointment to The Tom Tom Crew cast: "As Tom Tom Crew hits New York and London, we are really going to smash it with the amazing skills of Brisvegas wunderkind Sampology. His unique yet accessible mix and visual prowess will really add volumes to the production. Sam, welcome to the family."
Speaking from his home for the next month in New York's East Village, Sampology said: "I am over the moon about being involved in The Tom Tom Crew project, everyone involved is super talented and are really cool people to work with. To be able to play 42nd Street in New York for a month of shows at The New Victory Theatre before traveling to London and Edinburgh is a bit of a spin out, but that might just be the jetlag I'm feeling hard right now! I'm really excited about the next few months of touring and can't wait to smash all the gigs and make the most this awesome opportunity."
