Siemens, one of the world's most sustainable companies, is bringing their magic to Fed Square, sustainably powering this year's River Rink – the only outdoor ice skating rink in Melbourne's CBD - opening this Saturday.
Fed Square has long been dedicated to reducing water, waste and energy consumption and became a carbon-neutral precinct in 2015. So it's no surprise that cutting edge technology has been put to great use to bring a sustainable skating experience to the people of Melbourne.
Long term partners of Fed Square's, Siemens is helping drive Fed Square's green credentials, designing, installing and overseeing a co-generation plant underneath The Square that uses natural gas to generate the electricity that powers the rink. Using a powerful cloud-based digital platform, Siemens keeps track of energy consumption, making adjustments along the way to ensure energy efficiency is optimised.
Skaters can skate and glide in good conscience knowing that River Rink is sustainably powered!
With its twinkling fairy lights and twirling tunes to create atmosphere, the open air rink will bring an environmentally friendly touch to our winter cool as happy skaters of all ages experience the joy of skating outdoors. River Rink is also the perfect school holiday activity either during the day or into the evening.
