Set in the mystical east during the sixth century, Jake Gyllenhaal is Dastan, an orphan picked from the streets and adopted by King of the greatest empire ever known, Persia.

Not yet known as a great warrior, the young Persian Prince along with his royal-blood brothers join their Uncle Nizam (Ben Kingsley) in laying siege to the holy city of Alamut.

Alamut's own beautiful but crafty Princess Tamina (Gemma Arterton) is protector of the sacred, magical dagger of time which holds the power to rewind history, lands with Dastan during the siege.

Moments later the king is mysteriously murdered by a poisoned robe handed to him by Dastan. So with no other choice, the wrongly accused Prince reluctantly flees with the Princess in toe on a cross-desert, death-defying conquest to clear his name.

However with the Princess' focus to protect and return the powerful dagger back to the holy city of Alamut, Dastan incidentally discovers the dagger's true power, as time reverses right before his eyes.

After escaping from Sheik Amar (Alfred Molina) and his knife throwing assassin Seso (Steve Toussaint), the pair learn Dastan's trusted uncle Nizam is the mastermind behind his father's death to fulfil his life-long dream of reversing history and making himself King.

With the fate of the world in Dastan's hands, the Prince and Princess embark on a thrilling, pulse-pounding race against time to stop Nizam's treachery and prevent an Armageddon that may destroy mankind.

Unlock the Secrets and Explore the Mystery of Parkour!
David Belle is credited by many as being the founder of Parkour, more commonly known as free-running. This adventurous style of movement was the natural choice for producers to incorporate within the key action sequences of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

To celebrate the Blu-ray and DVD release and the film's vast use of acrobatic Parkour skills, Matthew 'Chippa' Campbell from the Australian Parkour Association unlocks the secrets of Parkour and lets us in on some training tips. Training Parkour since 2004, Chippa is one of the most skilled and respected practitioners of Parkour in Australia, travelling nationally and internationally to perform and train. Learn from the best with these quick tips...

1.Learn to run - cardio is the most important aspect to develop as it enhances all other components of training Parkour
2.Learn to climb - this helps to build strength and coordination, which will in turn help to develop your Parkour skill set
3.Learn to land properly - as a Parkour practitioner jumping is a regular part of the movement, so the ability to land safely is paramount to your longevity
4.Condition - proper conditioning is vital to being able to train for a long time and reduce the chances of injury
5.Stretch - do it often and do it well. Maintaining flexibility will greatly reduce the chances of injury
6.Always pay attention - focus on your body and your surroundings when you're training
7.Progressive Training - start small and work your way up. Don't rush into the big stunts straight away. Prepare your body and your mind
8.Variety -when it gets too easy and you feel ready for a challenge, change what you're doing and increase the difficulty levels of your training, one step at a time
9.Recovery - allow your body and your mind time to recover from hard stunt sessions
10.Train both sides - try to carry out techniques on either side of the body
