Interview with Pez

Question: What is the purpose of The Line campaign?

Pez: I guess you'd say the immediate aim of The Line is to reduce violence within our community. But i think it's purpose is also to get people to think about how they want to be treated and therefore how they treat other people, because that's where the violence stems from.

Question: What does The Line mean to you?

Pez: A chance to tackle that grey area in the way people treat each other, all the little things that lead to big things. Instead of just being a bandaid for violence, it's actually addressing the issue.

Question: Why is it important to you to support this campaign?

Pez: Because the music i'm making is trying to do something positive, and this is an opportunity to reach more and more people on that level.

Question: Do you write your own songs? What's your inspiration?

Pez: Yes I definitely write my own songs. My inspiration is just life, what i'm going through while trying to make sense of everything.

Question: What music/artists do you listen to when you are not playing your own?

Pez: Generally I'm in a real time warp, listening to the same CD's over and over again. But at the moment I'm listening to the new Lupe Fiasco album which has some amazing songs.

Question: What's next? Tour/Album/Single?

Pez: A 19 date national tour starting on May 19th! Then a couple of singles and then finally my new album!

Question: Was there a moment you contemplated throwing in the towel?

Pez: Nah never a moment where I considered throwing in the towel, but definitely some low points where I wonder how on earth I'm going to get to where I want to be in life.

Question: Do you prefer performing live or recording?

Pez: At the moment I'd say performing live, because I always used to be so terrified of it but I'm finally starting to get comfortable with it. And it's awesome watching your songs come to life and keep growing beyond the recording phase.

Question: What/who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?

Pez: Biggie Smalls (The Notorious B.I.G if u will), he made me fall in love with Hip Hop, and will always be my favourite rapper.

Question: What is the biggest challenge you have faced along the way to your musical success?

Pez: Trying to get my music out their on my own, it was a pretty scary thought releasing an album independently while thinking how in the hell is anyone going to hear about me?

Question: What's a typical day like?

Pez: Extremely relaxing and stressful at the same time haha. I don't have to work at the moment, so to the outside world I'm living the dream, but I also have to finish a new album which is taking a little longer than expected!

Question: What has been your favourite part of becoming a music artist?

Pez: Expressing some things that i would otherwise keep bottled up, and then meeting people who connect with it.

Question: If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?

Pez: I'd say Paul Kelly, but I'm lucky enough to say I'm already doing a song with him. So I'll say Mattafix.

Question: Are you single? What do you look for in a partner?

Pez: I have a girlfriend. I don't know what I was looking for, but I found it.

Question: Do you have a website fans can visit?

Pez: www.facebook.com/emceepez and https://pezmusic.com.au/

Question: Can you tell us 5 things required for a happy healthy & enjoyable life?

Pez: To find your passion, to love your work, genuine supportive friends to share it with, great food (I'm obsessed with food haha) and someone to love.

Question: What message would you like to say to your fans?

Pez: Thank you for being patient and I hope my next album is well worth the wait!
