Opera Australia presents the first Australian production of Handel's Partenope. Directed by Christopher Alden, this is a co-production with English National Opera and winner of the 2009 Olivier Award for best new opera production. Emma Matthews stars in the title role of this baroque comedy that plays havoc with notions of love, war and gender. Christian Curnyn conducts an outstanding cast. Partenope opens on 12 March 2011.
