Australian rockers Ocean Alley today celebrate the 5-year anniversary of their critically acclaimed breakthrough record, Chiaroscuro. To coincide with the milestone, the band have released an exclusive vinyl repress plus a time capsule merch reprint.
There are two vinyl variants, both limited to 1000 copies; Pink & Purple Marble with bonus slipmat - out today via their online store, plus Transparent Orange - out on April 22 for Australian Record Store Day. Both variants include a special edition postcard insert and inscription on the packaging and vinyl.
Chiaroscuro fervently captured the hearts of Australian audiences, with first cuts of the record 'Overgrown' and 'The Comedown' released in 2017 and the latter reaching #48 in triple j's Hottest 100. The band spent most of that year touring, performing their largest headline shows to date across Australia and New Zealand, with a string of sold out dates including two nights at Sydney's Metro Theatre.
In February 2018, the soulful and summery 'Confidence' was released with the announcement of the forthcoming album, and was a runaway train from there. Chiaroscuro was released on 9 March and debuted at #15 on the ARIA Album Chart. The band performed a sold out Australian tour and visited North America for the first time, along with showstopping appearances at Groovin' the Moo nationally and Splendour in the Grass.
'Confidence' topped the Hottest 100 of 2018 - followed by 'Knees' at #10 and 'Happy Sad' at #100 - peaking at #9 on the ARIA Singles Chart and achieving 3x Platinum certification, while Chiaroscuro has been certified Gold in Australia and New Zealand.
'Confidence' received nominations for 'Song of the Year' at the 2019 ARIA Awards and 'Rock Work of the Year' at the 2019 APRA Awards, while Chiaroscuro was nominated for 'Australian Album of the Year' at the 2018 J Awards.
