New Year Fireworks at Footscray Park

Festival City's New Year's Eve spectacular fireworks event returns to Footscray Park for a fourth year.

Kicking off at 6.30pm, this special event is the second largest New Year's Eve event in Victoria (second only to the City of Melbourne), drawing thousands to the banks of the iconic Maribyrnong River.

The 2016 on-stage line-up includes Rock icon -Mental As Anything'; -Horns of Leroy' – a seven-piece brass band from Melbourne; family-favourite and local act -The Mudcakes'; and -King Bell and the Soukous Ba Congo' – a spectacular African dance act.

Bring a picnic rug and enjoy the fun. There will be food trucks on hand offering a variety of different cuisines. Settle in for an amazing fireworks display which will illuminate the sky from 9.30pm.

'The NYE Fireworks event is a signature event in our Festival City program and one of our most popular annual events – and it's not hard to see why!," said City of Maribyrnong Mayor, Cr Catherine Cumming.

'This year promises to be our most spectacular yet, with an impressive line-up of entertainment for the whole family to enjoy. The early fireworks display allows families to ring in the New Year without the late night or huge crowds of the city centre.

'Everyone from the City of Maribyrnong and across Melbourne's west and metro Melbourne is welcome to join in the fun."
