National Maritime Museum Spring School Holiday Activities

Fly, drive, sail or cycle to the Australian National Maritime Museum this spring for a range of school holiday activities association with its new, hands-on family exhibition – Going Places. From transport themed craft activities to special tours for pre-schoolers and science workshops there's something for children of all ages. Don't miss the free Cabinet of Curiosities touch table and storytelling sessions to enhance your visit to the museum.

Exhibition - Going Places
Until February 2015
In Going Places, a new family exhibition at the Australian National Maritime Museum, you become the driver and discover the technology we have developed for travel and transport across our lands and oceans.
This hands-on exhibition gives families the opportunity to experience and react to a number of scenarios in which they can drive, load, control and design all forms of transport.
Entry included in the museum's Big Ticket - adult $27, child $16, family $70

Kids on Deck craft activities - Up, Off and Away!
21 September – 5 October, 10am – 4pm
Investigate and be inspired by the science and technology of transport!  Create your own wind-up speedboat, decorate a pilot's hat, or invent your own magnificent moving machine. Dress up in costume and learn and play through interactive games.
5 – 12 years. Child $8.50 or included in Big Ticket – adult $27, child $16, family $70

Under 5s tours – Boats in the Harbour
23 and 27 September, 10am and 11am
Explore different types of boats that sail, row, motor and dive in special character tours for under 5s and their carers. Enjoy stories, sing songs and move and dance through the galleries in this fun filled learning program. Tours last 30 minutes, children then have the opportunity to take part in the Up, Off and Away! kids craft activities.
Under 5 years. Child $8.50. First adult $3.50, extra adults $7 (includes galleries).

Young inventors – Kinetic art and science workshop
25 September or 1 October, 10am – 3.30pm
Explore the science of movement by creating kinetic sculptures and creative machines. Experiment with mini engines, pedal power, hover craft and bottle rockets.

Cabinet of Curiosities Touch Trolley
Daily in the school holidays, 11am – 12pm, 2 – 3pm
Get up close and personal with 'marvelous movers' – model boats, gadgets and artifacts in this interactive touch trolley in our galleries.
