National Maritime Museum Spring Holidays

These school holidays families are invited to spend the day at the Australian National Maritime Museum as it presents a range of activities for children inspired by its wonderful fleet of historic vessels and stories of the sea. Enjoy interactive musical storytelling, go on a torchlight tour on the Endeavour replica, take part in arts and craft or learn new skills in a photography workshop.

Kids' craft activities: Myths and Mariners (5 – 12 years)
20 September – 4 October 2015, 10am – 4pm
These holidays dip into the mysterious world of myths about the mystic blue sea in the museum's daily craft activities. Craft your own mermaid shadow puppet, dramatic diorama, an exquisite creature mobile or souvenir badge. Dress up in mythic creature costumes and create your own stories and sounds of the sea with interactive games.
Entry included in the Big Ticket - $27 adult, $16 child/concession, $70 family, no booking required.

Performances: A Sea of Stories (5 – 12 years)
Daily in the school holidays except Saturdays, 11.30am, 12.30pm, 2pm
Join in lively interactive musical storytelling about wild storms, brave journeys to distant lands, lighthouse keepers and beat boxing whales.

Under 5s Spring Holiday sessions
Tuesday 22 and 29 September and Saturday 26 September 2015, 10.00am and 11.0am
Dive in and explore curious creatures, hidden treasure and more in special character tours for under 5s and their carers. Enjoy stories, sing songs and dance through the galleries in this fun filled learning program. Then join our kids' craft sessions for creative craft and messy play.

Family Torchlight Tour: Twighlight on a Tallship (All ages)
Friday 25 September 2015, 6.00 – 7.30pm
All aboard for an extra special torchlight experience on board the magnificent HMB Endeavour replica with the hilarious character guide Antonio Ponto. Go on an interactive tour of the ship to discover what life was like in Cook's time, play games, make souvenir crafts to take home and enjoy themed refreshments. Don't forget to bring your torches!

Photography Workshop: Cockatoo Island (Ages 8 - 14)
Wednesday 30 September 2015, 10.00am – 3pm
Ferry out to the spectacular shipyards of Cockatoo Island for an adventurous photography workshop. Build skills in using digital and SLR cameras and learn photo editing techniques. Have your photos printed and exhibited in a special exhibition at the museum.
This course is held in conjunction with Spitting Image Photography and the Sydney Harbour Federation Trust.

Printing Workshop: Polar Patterns (Ages 8 - 14)
Thursday 24 September 2015, 10.00am – 3.30pm
Take inspiration from the Antarctic wildlife on display in our Shackleton exhibition and learn to create unique silkscreen prints and stencils. Print your own bespoke bag, T-shirt, mural or tattoo.
