Established in 1994, National Healthy Bones Week raises awareness of the important role calcium-rich foods, such as dairy, have in the development and maintenance of healthy bones and prevention of osteoporosis throughout life. The campaign educates Australians on the importance of developing and maintaining strong bones, encouraging active steps towards a healthier bone mass via the consumption of a calcium-rich diet, including dairy foods.
National Healthy Bones Week is organised by Dairy Australia in conjunction with Osteoporosis Australia.
In 2010, National Healthy Bones Week will be introducing a series of engaging activities, accompanied by key educational information on the benefits of dairy consumption, for individuals of all ages – from children, teens and parents to fitness lovers, the health-conscious, men, women, and seniors.
The 2010 National Healthy Bones Week campaign will include interactive elements designed to engage Australians and get them thinking about dairy consumption in a fun and informative manner using different touch points.
