Mystery of the Nile

Mystery of the Nile
Be part of history in the making and embark on an expedition of epic proportions in MacGillivray Freeman Films adventure, MYSTERY OF THE NILE, opening October 26 at the IMAX Theatre Sydney, rated G.

For 114 days, a team of explorers led by Pasquale Scaturro and Gordon Brown faced nearly insurmountable challenges as they made their way 3,260 miles down the Blue Nile and Nile rivers. Now audiences can join them to explore the mystique and power of the Blue Nile, which slithers its life-sustaining path from the isolated highlands of Ethiopia to the startling beauty of war-torn Sudan and into modern Egypt.

Traversing three countries in some of the worlds remotest regions, the expedition faced deadly crocodiles and hippos; the worlds most dangerous whitewater rapids; gunfire from bandits; malaria, and, temperatures topping 120°F.

They captured all their experiences for an unforgettable IMAX experience and a truly immersive cinematic adventure.

"What Pasquale and Gordon have accomplished is nothing short of a miracle", explains Director and Producer Greg MacGillivray. "The Blue Nile is known as the Mt Everest of rivers. Many explorers have tried to run the entire Nile, but all have failed."

MYSTERY OF THE NILE brings the expeditions adventure to life, leaving audiences gripping the side of their seat as they battle the elements. Watch as the crew overcomes fear and frustration, and discover an extraordinary region that abounds in historical, cultural and natural treasures, including remnants of ancient Egypts advanced civilisation that spanned over 3,000 years.

"The expedition down the Blue Nile and Nile River will fill audiences with awe", says MacGillivray. "Pasquale and his team overcame enormous hurdles to complete their mission. MYSTERY OF THE NILE brings back to the rest of us a very human, very moving story about determination and cooperation, all through the visceral realism of IMAX photography."
