Mt Buller is busy preparing for another action-packed snow season, which officially kicks off in one month's time, on Saturday 11 June. The resort is buzzing with anticipation for the first significant snowfalls and the excitement is building with some sub-zero temperatures and light flurries of snow this week.
The 2016 snow season will officially commence with a weekend of events, activities and celebrations. Festivities will kick off in the Village Square on Saturday afternoon with free kids' entertainment including The Magical Mountains Show with Warren Smith, complimentary gluhwein, roasted chestnuts and hot chocolate, fireworks and live performances on the Village stage.
The celebrations continue on Sunday with the traditional Blessing of the Snow, a screening of the inspirational film featuring Winter Olympian athlete Lydia Lassila in the cinema, and more activities for the whole family to enjoy.
The entire resort will be open from Saturday 11 June, which will provide visitors with the opportunity to enjoy the Village atmosphere, pat a Siberian Husky, try delicious alpine fare and hopefully get on the slopes if there is sufficient snow.
Marketing, Sales and Events Group Manager for Mt Buller Resort Management, Gillian Dobson is looking forward to welcoming visitors on the Queen's birthday long weekend. 'Opening weekend is just around the corner, and we always enjoy celebrating the first official day of the snow season. Visitors can take part in a weekend full of fun activities, live entertainment, and if we're lucky, snow for those skiing enthusiasts!"
'Mt Buller is the perfect way to escape over the long weekend, with the Resort an easy three-hour drive from Melbourne."
