Monster Jam Race Of Champions ROC Factor

Today Monster Jam® unveils the newest addition to the line up for its Australian tour in October, with motorsport royalty joining the action-packed fun for Race Of Champions ROC Factor.

Brisbane is the first stop for the Monster Jam® 2017 tour on October 7, where fans will experience an Australian showdown between some of motor sports biggest names, including racing royalty, the Queensland superstar himself, Mick Doohan, going head to head with motorbike stunt rider and daredevil extrordinaire Robbie Maddison!

The Australian premiere of Race Of Champions in Brisbane at Monster Jam® will see world class drivers go head-to-head in a unique competition to see who really is the fastest of them all. All Race of Champions drivers will be racing in the official ROC Car known for its rapid acceleration and predictable handling regardless of track conditions, proving to be particularly useful at twisty layouts (ROC car details can be found at: http://www.raceofchampions.com/cars/roc-car/).

Robbie Maddison will participate in all four Monster Jam shows across the country, while Mick Doohan will race exclusively in Brisbane. More drivers are yet to be announced.

'Any chance I have to compete on four wheels I normally take it, often not with great results but I do enjoy the experience of competing in a different discipline. I always enjoy the competition and the adrenalin of racing against drivers who race cars for a living. Being able to race with these guys and girls and sometimes being able to win the odd race is why I jump at the opportunity to race at any ROC event. ROC have been the bench mark for stadium events for the past few decades and I look forward to competing in the Monster Jam event this October, it will no doubt be one of the best stadium motorsport events for 2017 here in Australia. Two too many wheels but I've always had a soft spot for car racing. I've been privileged to drive in the Race Of Champions over the years, it is always a challenge for an old bike racer and this event will be no different."

'Monster Jam is the biggest touring family stadium show on the planet," said Magnus Danielsson, Vice President of Feld International Motorsports. 'Each year our fans expect bigger and more exciting family motorsports action which is why adding Race Of Champions and ROC Factor makes so much sense for Monster Jam. Just like our fans, we'll be excited to see how the ROC Factor competition ends; may the best driver win!"

Race Of Champions will feature ROC Factor - a competition that gives amateur drivers the chance to compete and compare their talent with some of the biggest names in motorsport in an elimination-style tournament.

'The ROC Factor competition is an idea that we started at the Race Of Champions at London's Olympic Stadium in 2015," said Fredrik Johnsson, President of Race Of Champions.

'It was a great success and now we look forward to giving racing enthusiasts in Australia the chance to measure their skills against some of the country's biggest stars. Monster Jam is the perfect partner to launch with in Australia."

Motorsport enthusiasts and racers can enter the ROC Factor competition online, with an expert panel evaluating contestants before naming semi-finalists. Details of how to enter are to be announced soon. Monster Jam fans will be asked to vote and name the two finalists online in the coming months.

Monster Jam returns to Australia with Race Of Champions the first time addition, for four shows across Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne in October. Each Monster Jam show features two competitions: head-to-head racing where speed matters and the unmissible freestyle competitions, where fans will see the massive Monster Jam trucks defy gravity with their best tricks.
