Monica Waters Co-Founder Whole Kid

At just 36 years of age, Monica Waters' diverse and impressive experience would suggest she is years ahead of her time. As well as being the Co-Founder of successful organic snack food company Whole Kids, Monica also founded Marketing Communications company MEC Admark in Indonesia, headed up Strategy for a division of Boral, implemented Human Resource and Communications strategies at Optus, presented lifestyle program 'Space' on Optus Vision, consulted to Goldman Sachs, Telecom NZ and Satellite broadcaster MediaSat, and has over 12 years experience in the Fitness Industry.

What inspired Monica to establish Whole Kids was her passion for children's health. Monica was interested in organics as she says, "It's really quite simple - food that is free of additives and preservatives is better for children's health. With an abundance of good quality produce in Australia, there is no reason why children should be eating highly processed and unhealthy foods."

This passion for children's wellbeing has lead her to dedicate her life to the constant improvement of a healthy yet fun range of products that can finally offer an alternative to 'junk' food.

Monica has a background in Communications with a Bachelor of Commerce and Marketing, an MBA in International Management (to which she is the youngest to ever be accepted) as well as a Master of Commercial Law. She was awarded two separate scholarships for her studies. In addition to this Monica is a fully accredited Personal Trainer/Group fitness instructor, an accredited Indonesian Translator and Interpreter and has taken courses in Finance, Television Presenting, Project Management, Strategic Planning, Public Relations and a Young Manager Program.

Monica has also engaged in charity work. She was the group leader for an Australia-Indonesia youth exchange program where she lead a group of 16 Australians and their Indonesian counterparts to a remote village in North Sumatra to deliver an aid program to assist the local villagers. She says, "The experience was so rewarding. My time working with children in Indonesia doing aid work is what made me realise I wanted to dedicate my life to a cause that would make a difference."

In her role at Whole Kids, Monica says she has a very hands-on approach. She manages sales teams, supplier relationships and the sourcing and production of Whole Kids products. Monica also works closely with dieticians, product technologists, parents and kids to ensure that all products meet strict criteria for taste, texture and importantly, fun. Monica says, "I love being my own boss because of the sense of achievement. Also, you get to choose your own staff which means I only pick people who are equally as passionate as I am."
