The Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) is delighted to welcome film buffs of all ages to the Australian premiere of Rock Dog for the 2017 MIFF Kids' Gala, presented by Australia's favourite popcorn brand, Cobs.
The whole family is invited to walk the red carpet and join the party with delicious Cobs popcorn and festivities before the screening.
With an incredible voice cast including Luke Wilson and Eddie Izzard, Rock Dog follows the story of a Tibetan mastiff Bodi (Wilson) who is supposed to take over his father's role as village guard to the local sheep. But when a radio falls out of the sky he discovers his true passion – music! Inspired by an interview with Angus Scattergood (Izzard), Bodi sets off to seek out his musical destiny. Meanwhile, wolf pack leader Linnux hatches a plot to get to those tasty sheep. Can Bodi save the village without giving up his dream?
Directed by co-director of Toy Story 2 (1999) Ash Brannon and based on a graphic novel by Chinese rock star Zheng Jun, Rock Dog is a light-hearted family adventure film that will rock your woollen socks.
MIFF Kids' Gala is part of the MIFF Kids program (previously known as Next Gen). An initiative by the festival to enrich the cinema experience for younger viewers, it offers screenings at family-friendly times for films that are not guaranteed a cinema release in Australia. See them at MIFF or risk missing out!
