Children and families are invited to explore the new Summer Architecture Commission structure in the NGV International back garden, at a series of programs on Sunday 8 November as part of the Futures: Art, Design, Environment program.
Designed by Melbourne firm the John Wardle Architects, the Summer Architecture Commission structure is filled with thousands of pink and purple -blooms' made of hand-folded polypropylene, the same material used in our bank notes.
Underneath the vibrant pink structure children can fold their own polypropylene animal forms and shapes in a FREE and interactive workshop about design and architecture. Developed by Megara, the local company that creates the 100% recycled polypropylene found in the Summer Architecture Commission.
Creative teens can also meet John Wardle Architect's Matthew van Kooy, one of the lead designers on the Summer Architecture Commission, as part of the NGV's Creative Encounters teen program series. In this -Meet the Architect' talk, Matthew will give a tour of the structure and run an informal Q&A session. He'll also give a short talk about his background and insights into what it's like to be an architect. Tickets $15, ages 13-17.
