Fresh from a huge headline performance with What So Not at Yours and Owls Festival, Lucy Washington leaps into solo territory with her first release '$25' under a new moniker, Lucy Lucy.
Premiered via triple j's Home & Hosed last night, and landing today on Spotify's New Music Friday, Local Noise and Apple Music's New Music Daily; '$25' is an exciting sign of things to come from the Sydney artist who previously fronted electronic pop duo Yuma X. Her new project has already seen her gracing the stage of Australia's largest festivals and working behind the scenes with some of the country's biggest acts including Broods, Mansionair, Slumberjack, Daniel Johns and What So Not.
Produced with friend and collaborator Adam Bozzetto, '$25' is a bouncy, low-slung bop about skipping work to spend time with a crush. "As a result I literally had $25 in my bank account, and my card may or may not have declined upon trying to purchase groceries later that week" says Lucy. With her instantly addictive vocals, Lucy Lucy is using her burgeoning project to explore new and unique soundscapes. Drawing inspiration from icons such as King Princess and BENEE, she combines witty lyrics and lush electro-pop soundscapes set to excite fans of indie and dream pop.
