BOHEMIAN brides and their tribes can immerse themselves in a colourful, open-air festival of wedding frivolity, with live bands, bubbles, fashion and food when Love on the Lawn hits Centennial Park on 28th February.
It features 100 wedding exhibitors, champagne and wine bar, gourmet food vans and the blokey Man Cave, a safe haven for grooms to get away from the bridal madness and chill out with a beer, televised sports and a pool table.
'Organiser Kim Alfeldi, a former wedding planner, said she wanted to turn the outdated wedding expo into a festival- like atmosphere, allowing brides to really connect with vendors and plan their day in a relaxed space.
'I wanted to step away from the traditional boring expo." Ms Alfeldi said. 'When brides are shopping for their wedding day. It's really about the experience." Love on the Lawn also features live entertainment, bridal fashion parades, pop up retail stalls, flower crown and bridal workshops, expert advice, celebrity MCs, food tasting, prizes and goodie bags.
A VIP teepee can be reserved for the day close to the main stage, allowing brides and their friends to mull over their choices with a complimentary bottle of bubbles while listening to live music. 'We also have a Man Cave for the boys. Men get dragged around kicking and screaming to these events." Ms Alfeldi said. 'Here they can watch sport and drink a beer, but they still get brownie points for going. This is a really popular part of the festival." 'It's a cool space where they can hang out and get away from flowers.
The difference is that by providing this platform, people hang around longer and engage more with the vendors, which is important when making decisions. 'Brides want to get to know someone who is working on the biggest day of their life. 'This is the most fun you can have when planning a wedding"
