An engaging, intelligent take on life in the '90s and the entanglements of young love
A unique Australian comedy/drama, Love And Other Catastrophes focuses on five friends making their way through university; their trials, tribulations and quest for love.
Firstly there's Mia (Frances O'Connor), who's obsessed with her Uni lecturer (Kym Gyngell) and is trying to prevent her girlfriend Danni (Radha Mitchell) from moving in. Meanwhile Mia's room-mate Alice (Alice Garner; SeaChange) isn't prepared to settle for anyone less than her perfect Mr Right, who arrives in the shape of Ari (Matthew Dyktynski), a Classics student by day and gigolo at night. And then there's the cautious, shy medical student Michael (Matt Day), harbouring a major crush on Alice. Events unfold in a 24-hour timeframe, culminating in a house-warming party at the girls' new apartment where truths must be faced and problems solved.
