Life in the Park

From birds, butterflies, microbats and mangroves, to frogs, native fish and thousands of invertebrate species, Sydney Olympic Park is renowned for its rich biodiversity.

A series of FREE short talks, wildlife displays and family-friendly activities about urban ecology at Sydney Olympic Park will be presented from 10.00am-12noon on Sunday 28 August at the Education Centre at Bicentennial Park.

The series of short talks by members of Sydney Olympic Park Authority and local community experts will shed light on the vast variety of urban wildlife and how we can protect their habitat. The event will also feature displays of live reptiles, birds and frogs as well as live footage via EagleCAM of the Park's nesting White-bellied Sea-Eagles.

Last year's Life in the Park event was well-attended and this year's addition of family-friendly activities is sure to enlighten and entertain. Free activities will include (but are not limited to): frog habitat building, Ranger dress-up and bring a feather and have it identified by bird experts. Attendees can choose to partake in the talks and/or the activities and displays designed for all ages.

The activities and displays will be run by the Sydney Olympic Park Authority ecology team, Frog and Tadpole Study Group, Cumberland Bird Observers Club, BirdLife, the Australian Herpetological Society and others.
