Lee Spring Summer 02/03

Lee Spring Summer 02/03
Lee at the Chelsea Hotel

Ears are ringing, eyes are stinging. Watch the boys play and then it's back to the hotel to fool around. Leave the crowd behind in the smoky haze.

It's pure sex kitten cool and amplified lo-fi raunch. Nonchalant glamour and effortless cool define Lee's Spring Summer 02/03 range at the Chelsea Hotel, New York.

Inspired by the raunch of rock 'n' roll and brazen attitudes, this season's Lee denim range is all about the wash. From Vintage Wash, Salmon Wash and Demolition Dirty Wash to Cloud Wash and Snow Wash - low down and dirty, washed up or washed out - even if you're unwashed.

"The Chelsea has always been a sort of Tower of Babel of creativity and bad behavior. Some of the world's most gifted and most destructive minds have called 222 West 23rd Street home."

Shot at the infamous Chelsea Hotel in Manhattan, once home to many members of the anti-establishment including Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Dennis Hopper & Janis Joplin. The bohemian hotel is the subject of Andy Warhol's first film "Chelsea Girls" and Joni Mitchell's song "Chelsea Morning". Whilst living there, Arthur C Clarke wrote '2001: A Space Odyssey' and William S. Burroughs wrote 'Naked Lunch'. Sid Vicious killed girlfriend Nancy Spungen here and then himself a few days later.

"All my friends stay here, a lot of funky things happen in the Chelsea. Just like the California communes. Only it costs a bit more."
--Janis Joplin

The gig is over but the night is just beginning. Shirts are off and strewn along the floor - where's my skirt...Western prints, stripes and torn at the sleeve. Bare chests and brawn, Lo Slouch jeans in a Super Aged Wash hanging off the couch.

Cruise to Coney Island. Intoxicating glances and rock foxy tanned bodies in lace tops, and deep plunging necklines. Teamed with Dirty Used Flare Jeans or the Flute Skirt...she's haphazardly hip and sexy as hell. A half-forced smirk for a sex-framed snap. Capture the guys stripping off in Applique and Western Shirts, Pique Polo Tops in washed out mints, lemon and pinks, and the latest salmon wash.

Stumbling out into daylight to cruise down to the pier. Feeling the brunt of the night before... maybe fool around, get crazy. The girls are in their Rolled Up Sleeve Shirts and Halter Singlets. Teamed with Wide-Band Mini's and Cheeky Shorts. Demolition washes in guys Hipster Jeans show their high-octane sex appeal status. Scorching Summer with their surf-inspired Hawaii tees, paisley shirts and floral prints around their waists.
