On World MS Day (May 25) women everywhere are asked to wear red lipstick and Kiss goodbye to MS.

Multiple Sclerosis is an often debilitating neurological condition that currently affects around 20,000 Australians and 3.5 million people worldwide. Three out of four people with MS are women. The average age of diagnosis is 30 (and getting younger.) This is a time when women are establishing careers and starting families.

Awareness is vital. Recent research indicates that confusion exists within Australian society regarding the prevalence of MS and the daily challenges faced by people living with the condition.

In fact, more than 65 per cent of Australian women are unaware that MS discriminates towards them.

A key message is that earlier the diagnosis, the better the capacity for a treatment to work well. This makes for a brighter future – for people with MS and their families and friends. This campaign aims to get this message on everyone's lips.

The simple act of donning red lips is a sexy, positive and strong way to show support and spread awareness – let's get research on the lips! We of course encourage all to donate and not simply pay lip-service!

This World MS Day, let's Kiss goodbye to MS.
