Kids Tennis Day at Australian Open 2014

Nickelodeon Australia and Tennis Australia are thrilled to announce that Kids Tennis Day ambassador and tennis royalty, Roger Federer, will be joined by Guy Sebastian, Samantha Jade and the Stafford Brothers to wow the crowds with stellar performances set to light up Rod Laver Arena.

Nickelodeon's own big kid presenters Luke and Wyatt will host the event alongside Nick characters SpongeBob SquarePants, his best buddy Patrick Starfish, Dora the Explorer and her cousin Diego, who will act as  ballkids for a friendly match between some of the sport's biggest stars. The ever-famous Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will also entertain the kids.

A number of tennis legends set to be announced will dust off their tennis racquets and charm the crowd on Nickelodeon's -Wreck it or Racquet' court. Kids will also be able to enjoy a live performance from Nick Jr.'s Play Along with Sam star, Sam Moran and Nickelodeon's Slime Time Live show is set to take place on the Garden Square stage.

'Kids Tennis Day is the nation's biggest tennis family fun day and a fantastic way to bring kids into the sport and share in the excitement of the Australian Open," said Tennis Australia's CEO, Craig Tiley.

'Last year we had a record crowd of more than 12,000 kids and families. The most rewarding part for me was seeing kids of all ages and skill levels, including those who hadn't tried their hand at tennis before, have a hit on the courts just days before the first Grand Slam of the year kicked off, learning some new skills and most importantly, having fun," added Tiley.

'Kids Tennis Day is a great day out for Aussie families and there is nothing else quite like it. This is the second year I have been a part of the action and I'm looking forward to performing on-court for the thousands of kids who will hopefully become the next generation of Aussie tennis players," said Guy Sebastian.

Prior to Kids Tennis Day 2014, Nickelodeon will also host Kids Tennis Days at each Australian Open Series event including: Hyundai Hopman Cup in Perth (28 December), Brisbane International (30 December), World Tennis Challenge in Adelaide (4 January), Hobart International (5 January) and the Apia International in Sydney (6 January).

Kids Tennis Day takes place at Melbourne Park, home of the Australian Open, on Saturday, 11 January 2014 from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.
