Kids in the Park July 2016

The winter chills will have no impact on fun at Sydney Olympic Park this July, when Kids in the Park presents a program of school holiday activities to bolster creative talents, keep kids moving and turn winter free-time from drab to fab!

NEW to the popular Kids in the Park program, the Creative Genius Drama Workshop will see kids aged 5-12 explore creative storytelling through voice, movement and role-play from 9am-4pm on 6 July at The Armory Theatre. Located at the Park's heritage-listed Newington Armory – one of Sydney's most iconic cultural hubs – the venue itself is inspirational and features an award-winning café and plenty of adult-friendly leisure options too.

Budding filmmakers can create a story and further learn how to plan production, shoot, edit moving images and even design a film soundtrack at the three-day Digital Filmmaking Workshop.

Sand Art Fun for School Holidays will also take place on 7 July at Newington Armory, where coloured sand provides a safe, mess-free and magical way for children aged 5 and older to create bright and vibrant artworks for just $15, and the FREE Games at the Armory offers a unique glimpse of times past. Participants will experience games played such as paper craft, fly and hoop rolling, string games and spinners plus marbles, knuckle games and quoits.

At beautiful Bicentennial Park, award-winning writer Dr Bernard Cohen presents The Writing Workshop; comprising 10 different creative writing classes for various abilities and ages. And little ones aged 2-5 play baker at Cookies & Craft or make their own Pizza & Pasta for $22 per child at the Park's Café at WatervieW.

Science is super stimulating at Fizzics Education workshops and Kids in the Park July 2016 will debut three NEW Fizzics workshops; exploring the evolution and harsh environments of different types of animals in the Living World, the science of survival by making generators, water filters and learning codes and crisis communication tricks in Doomsday Science, as well as how electricity works in Create a Buzz!

The NEW Sports Camps Australia – Junior Yoga: Path of the Dancing Warrior Camp will keep kids moving from 12-14 July and is one of many sports-based Kids in the Park school holiday activities. Sporty and out-doorsy children are spoilt for choice at Sydney Olympic Park where more than 50 sports are played and 430 hectares of parklands provide umpteen hours of school holiday entertainment.

From more than 35km of outdoor FREE Bike Trails, Archery, Flying Trapeze and the award-winning Urban Jungle Adventure Park, to indoor Aquatic Centre fun, an AC Milan Junior Soccer Camp, Basketball – My Hoops, Futsal – Indoor Soccer, action sports at Monster Activities and loads more, Kids in the Park July 2016 will operate across Sydney Olympic Park EVERY DAY of the winter school holidays, from 2-17 July 2016.
