Katy Perry: Part of Me 3D Review

Cast: Katy Perry
Directors: Dan Cutforth, Jane Lipsitz
Genre: Documentary, Music

Synopsis: A motion picture event movie, Katy Perry: Part of Me is a 3D backstage pass, front row seat and intimate look at the fun, glamorous, heartbreaking, inspiring, crazy, magical, passionate and honest mad diary of Katy Perry!

Verdict: Wow!
I am a massive Katy Perry fan (who's not?) and I have been lucky enough to be in attendance at both her Melbourne concerts however I was blown away by the in-depth look Katy Perry: Part of Me 3D provides especially what occurs behind the scenes of this worldwide concert tour.

The whole film is a highlight as her personal life, behind-the-scene work and travel is intertwined with live show footage including confession videos from an 18 year old Katy Perry. In the cinema you have the best seat in the house to watch her elaborate performances whilst also observing the inspirations behind her hit songs.

Seeing her eye-popping costumes up close and in 3D was a phenomenal experience as you can literally see each individual sequin and how the designs work together with extravagant head pieces and mechanisms.

The narrative of Katy Perry: Part of Me 3D is quiet basic; it showcases a year in the life of Katy Perry as she embarks on her worldwide tour yet the complex film provides many truths including the true feelings of Katy's religious family and the years of work (including a Christian gospel pop album) leading up to the record-setting five number 1 singles from her album, Teenage Dream.

The most surprising yet important truth showcased made me cry, which is not what I expected! On the first sight of Russell Brand, backstage, I was surprised however I was even more surprised that the film showcased the difficulties their marriage experienced and how that impacted Katy Perry. Katy Perry is in heart-breaking agony yet she still ensured every single show goes on. The film captures the divorce of the two high profile celebrities directly, yet sensitively and watching Katy trying to hold it together whilst in front of a huge crowd allowed me to respect her more, as an artist and a human being. As the tension built I became increasingly upset as we all know how the story is going to end, and unfortunately it's not "they lived happily ever after".

Katy Perry is clearly the 'boss' of this tour whilst she is surrounded by a loyal, hard-working and supportive team including her sister, manager, assistant, makeup artist and the amazing costume designer on a daily basis.

The Katy Perry: Part of Me 3D movie provides a positive message and features Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Adele, Lady Gaga and thousands of Katy Perry's adoring fans. This fairy tale film is not to be missed because it tells us dreams can come true, even California Dreams!
