Find yourself transported into another time and place at the exhibition, Journal Quilts by Australian and New Zealand ArtQuilters at Craftfest, Townsville Entertainment & Convention Centre, April 2 5, 2009. This captivating collection of 135 diary style quilts features an uplifting story with the inclusion of a truly amazing submission of journal quilts by Cranbrook resident, Annette Sibson.
A very talented group of Australian and New Zealand art quilters spent twelve months creating the collection. Meeting regularly online, the quilting group contributed to the collection each month, making a small quilt that captured either an event that touched them, an emotion they felt, a landscape they were inspired by or a new technique they were trying out.
The five journal quilts submitted by Annette Sibson reveal her brave journey after being diagnosed with breast cancer. Experimenting with stitching, photos, quilting and dyeing, Annettes quilts are indeed a journal disclosing the emotions she felt after her diagnosis and surgery. A testament to her inner strength and courage, Annettes quilts (below) reveal her inspiring journey from disbelief right through to acceptance and embracing the challenge.
