Johnny Stimson Material Things

Johnny Stimson releases his new single entitled "Material Things." Celebrated for his innovative blend of vibrant pop melodies, soulful vocals, and R&B dipped soundscapes, the rising artist has already garnered a massive following, his music reaching hundreds of millions of streams + views and gaining fans such as BTS and Elton John.

In "Material Things," Stimson explores how it felt being alone over the pandemic. He confides, "I wrote material things as a satire to point out and notice how easy it can be to seek joy in the things around us. I got a Tamagotchi over quarantine and it almost felt like a real friend for a while. Sometimes relationships with people can be hard, so this is a caricature of my occasional desire to just be alone with my video games and guitars. Ultimately, I don't believe there's much joy to be found in material things, but this is a song about confusing the dopamine hit of buying stuff with true happiness."

Johnny has over 200 million global streams, and has received acclaim from the likes of Billboard, Vogue Korea and Vice, to name a few. His music has also been added to Spotify playlists New Music Friday, Totally Stress Free, Make Out Jams, Summer Party and more. "Material Things" is off of his forthcoming EP Butterflies, which is set to release on October 8th.
