Jane Eyre is orphaned at a young age and left without a penny to her name. Raised by her aunt, Mrs Reed, who abuses and mistreats her. Jane is sent to Lowood Institution where she surveys six years of harsh conditions as a student and a further two as a teacher.

Accepting position as Governess, Jane moves to Thronfield Hall where she meets the taciturn Mr Rochester. Despite his terrible moods Jane grows fond of his mysterious and passionate nature. But her hopes of happiness are soon jeopardised by a terrible secret.
