This week Insight puts kids in the spotlight and asks them whether children are better off with their biological families - even when it is abusive or dysfunctional.

Some child protection experts say children are left for too long in unsafe homes because the system is wrongly geared towards the rights of the parents. They say money is being wasted on family intervention services that simply don't work, and vulnerable children should be removed earlier and permanently adopted out.
