The name HUTCH gained notoriety amongst music lovers in 2006 when singer-songwriter, Chris Hutchison, blew up on Myspace. The then 17-year old's uniquely coastal style of country music had locals captivated and quickly lead to a trailblazing debut album and sold-out show at what is now the fabled HOTA theatre.
After stepping back from the stage to raise a family, HUTCH is finally back in the spotlight with the cheery singalong, 'Beer Never Taste So Good'. With its happy-go-lucky melodies the new single is a break-up song masquerading as a party anthem.
"The song captures the raw energy of a relationship breakdown and the sweet relief that comes from escaping the built-up drama," the singer-songwriter explains. "It's about turning to beer and good friends to drown out the heartache, embracing the chaos with a carefree attitude – it's escapism at its finest."
HUTCH crafted the track from his recently built home studio on the Gold Coast, enlisting local producer, Brad Hosking. Layers of chirpy guitars perfectly frame HUTCH's powerhouse vocal. The rock-solid groove came courtesy of celebrity drummer, Aaron Sterling. "Like a lot of my songs I have had the pleasure of having Aaron Sterling play the drums on this track. Aaron is obviously one of today's most popular drummers, playing for the likes of John Mayer, Post Malone, Harry Styles and Taylor Swift to name a few."
Keeping everything in-house, HUTCH penned the tune alongside lead guitarist, Hemi Time, who's riding shotgun with the singer on Amy Shark's The Sadness Tour.
When HUTCH's journey began, almost 20 years ago, he enjoyed a meteoric rise. Shortly after selling out the 2000 seat HOTA theatre, he was supporting the biggest artists of the day - Guy Sebastian, Thirsty Merc, Shannon Noll and Damien Leith to name a few.
As life goes, however, a career on the road gave way to a family, and HUTCH sidelined his exploits in the limelight to pursue a successful path as a wedding singer on a slightly smaller stage for the better part of 15 years. Although he was constantly performing and enjoying a life enveloped in music, HUTCH eventually accepted that the big stage was the ultimate goal. He got back in the studio in 2019 to realise that lifelong dream and released 'The Truth is Out', a passionate maturation on his original sound and adored by country music lovers nation-wide.
Now HUTCH is well and truly back, working towards packing out the HOTA theatre all over again. His latest offering is country pop at its finest - a mix of unforgettable melodies and naturally relatable storytelling. 'Beer Never Taste So Good' is a surefire hit, guaranteed to resonate with fans around the nation.
