This time of year is notorious for breaking those New Year's resolution's that you set at the start of the year so what about committing to something that you will stick to for the long-term that's for a good cause too?
Enter Heart Challenge, a series of adventure fundraising events piloted by the NSW Division of the National Heart Foundation of Australia.
The new Heart Challenge events encourage people to 'raise a sweat' and much needed funds for the Heart Foundation by being sponsored for taking part in physical activity based challenges New Zealand Wilderness Cycle or the Great Wall Of China Trek. Along the way fundraisers improve their personal heart health and enjoy a unique travel experience, while assisting the Heart Foundation in the fight against heart disease.
The New Zealand Wilderness Cycle, from October 27 to November 4, is an exciting and challenging nine-day cycle throughout the beautiful South Island of New Zealand. The cycle offers you the chance to experience some of the country's most spectacular scenery including mountain lakes, the Milford Sound and MacKenzie Basin, all framed by glaciated peaks
For those that would prefer a walking adventure, there is the Great Wall Of China Trek on October 11 - 20, an amazing six day trek through the Great Wall Of China. Participants will experience sections of the wall rarely visited, travelling through local villages and absorbing the real China and her people.
Full support is given to Heart Challenge participants in the lead-up to both events, including providing training hints and tips, while also building up team spirit and keeping participants motivated.
Tony Thirlwell, Heart Foundation Chief Executive Officer - NSW, encouraged Australians to get involved in the Heart Challenge events in 2007 in the knowledge that they will be improving their own personal health and saving lives.
"The Heart Challenge events are a great opportunity for Australians to get active and explore some of the world's most amazing locations, while also supporting the Heart Foundation in our mission to improve Australia's heart health," said Thirlwell.
All money raised from the Heart Challenge events will ensure that the Heart Foundation can continue to:
