Good Food Month

A new national food event is set to capture tastebuds around the country when Good Food Month presented by Citi gets underway for 2013.

Australia's largest food festival, Good Food Month invites food-lovers in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra to celebrate Australia's extraordinary culinary scene, with everything from fine-dining dinners to free, family-friendly outdoor festivals.

In Sydney and regional New South Wales, The Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Month presented by Citi makes a triumphant return throughout October after four years operating as Crave Sydney International Food Festival, which attracted almost a million festival-goers in 2012. And as Melbourne's newest food festival, The Age Good Food Month presented by Citi will host a series of exciting food-and-drink events throughout November, including the city's first Night Noodle Markets. Satellite events will also be held in Queensland and Canberra as restaurants ranked in the prestigious Good Food Guide join in with quirky Hats Off Dinners and fabulous Let's Do Lunch set menus.

It wouldn't be a celebration of food without a line-up of amazing chefs including Rene Redzepi, the creative genius behind Noma restaurant in Copenhagen, ranked second in the world. Redzepi will headline at a series of events in both Sydney and Melbourne, including an all-star dinner with a group of Australia's most inspiring culinary talents. In November, his colleague Alex Atala – the chef sensation from Sao Paolo in Brazil, ranked number six in the world, will also be heading Down Under.

Signature events in Melbourne and Sydney include the iconic, Asian-inspired Night Noodle Markets as well as the Shoot the Chef culinary photographic competition. Other Good Food Month features include Good Pub Grub, Bar Hop cocktail and bar snack combinations, Ultimate High Teas as well as numerous other pop-ups, parties and hands-on cooking classes, showcasing the best restaurants, bars, pubs and artisan food businesses across the country.

'Good Food Month is every food-lover's favourite time of year and we're delighted to bring the excitement to our most food-mad cities," says festival director Joanna Savill. 'We've already had such a huge response from chefs and food producers who have developed some fabulous events to add to the program. We can't wait to get underway!"

Good Food Month is all part of the celebration of food and drinks that is the Fairfax Good Food network, linked to The Sydney Morning Herald's Good Food, The Age's Epicure, The Canberra Times' Food & Wine sections as well as the ultimate resource for all things eating in, out and everything in between.
