Here are three things you can do to help us raise awareness:
Firstly, whether you are a man or a woman we encourage you to have a heart health check with your GP if you haven't already done so. This involves discussing your family history of heart disease with your GP, having your blood pressure and cholesterol levels checked and discussing what other risk factors you might have. To make it easier, download these questions to ask your GP and take them along with you. If you have any questions feel free to contact the Heart Foundation's Health Information Service on 1300 36 27 87 (cost of a local call).
Secondly promote heart health awareness to three female friends or family.
Thirdly you can also help further by:
Giving this PowerPoint presentation if you are in a job that involves community engagement.
Wear a splash of red.
Adopt some of our healthy workplace strategies found in our Healthy Workplace Guide.
Encourage friends and family to:
Put the simple info-graphic resource on their intranet, in a newsletter or group emails.
Hold a healthy bake sale with proceeds donated to the Heart Foundation.
Turn a pre-planned event red and make Heart Foundation the beneficiary.
Run an event with friends and family such as a cocktail party, dinner, breakfast, picnic, fun run, girls pamper party, movie night. The list is endless!
Spread the word to the women in your life and encourage them to find out more and look after their heart.
