The revolutionary 'Stromed" treatment giving life back to Aussies Monday 16th December: An ex-Test fast bowler might be thought to have little in common with a high profile media celebrity and former fashion model. But Geoff Lawson and Charlotte Dawson both share a battle with osteoarthritis and a positive response to a remarkable new treatment.
Geoff 'Henry" Lawson and Charlotte Dawson both underwent 'Stromed" stem cell therapy for troublesome knees with Dr Ralph Bright in July at Macquarie Stem Cells in Liverpool.
The technique separates stem cells from a person's own fat by a patented form of ultrasound. The isolated cells are then injected by Dr Bright into the affected joints (and/or intravenously in some cases) to treat conditions such as osteoarthritis.
Charlotte Dawson used to struggle to walk up or downstairs without assistance and the pain made wearing sky-high heels (a pre-requisite of her profession) an extremely painful experience.
'Since having the stem cell therapy with Dr Bright, I can now do a full squat and my mobility is great. My pain is almost non-existent and once I get back in the gym to work on some muscle tone I'll be back to my best," said Dawson.
Geoff Lawson says he has been much more mobile and suffering less pain since having the procedure done in July 2013.
'I'm coaching bowling sessions for the NSW cricket team and playing golf pretty regularly so the positive outcomes have been very tangible. I'm very pleased to get back to enjoying the active lifestyle I am used to," said Lawson.
Osteoarthritis affects over 1.3 million Australians and is one of the most common causes of disability in Australia.
