Tennis clubs are being urged to turn to wine to assist in their efforts to raise as much as $4 million a year in funding, to upgrade club facilities and develop the next generation of Australian tennis stars.
A survey of 300 Australian tennis clubs and associations by Fuzzy Ball Wines has found that 50% of tennis clubs need to fundraise extensively in order to remain operational.
More than one third of tennis clubs rely on the efforts of enthusiastic members, volunteers and staff to raise a per club average of $2,000 annually, through time consuming social events and raffles. The money generated is spent on operational requirements and providing facilities for budding tennis players to learn, train and compete.
Fuzzy Ball Wines is made up of four high profile wineries, including Grant Burge, Tyrrell's, Alkoomi, and Cuttaway Hill and has been created to support local tennis clubs in Australia. For every case of wine sold, Fuzzy Ball Wines will donate $25 to a nominated tennis club.
