Every year 14,000 Australian women are diagnosed with breast cancer. In June we learned that much loved Australian television personality Kerri-Anne Kennerley is one of them.
Maxine Morand, CEO of Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA), said Kerri-Anne's diagnosis was an important reminder that breast cancer can happen to anyone.
"Kerri-Anne's diagnosis reinforces the fact that every day 38 Australian women are diagnosed with breast cancer. Our thoughts are with Kerri-Anne and all other newly diagnosed women as they face a challenging physical and emotional journey," Maxine said.
'Information and support are absolutely vital after a breast cancer diagnosis and that is why BCNA resources such as the free My Journey Kit are so important for newly diagnosed women as they start a new and difficult chapter."
The free My Journey Kit contains information to help women and their families understand their diagnosis and inform them of treatment options. The kit includes a subscription to the free breast cancer magazine The Beacon, a special record book for personal details, treatment plans, appointments medical expenses. And most importantly a booklet with insider tips for women with breast cancer, written by women who have gone through the journey before.
The My Journey Kit includes:
My Journey Information Guide - a book of information, advice and recommended resources collected from women who have travelled the breast cancer journey.
My Journey Personal Record - a handbag-sized booklet for recording personal details, treatments, appointments, medical expenses and questions to ask the health care team.
