Sydney Olympic Park Authority and Auburn City Council have again joined forces to present an Australia Day 2014 celebration to remember at the iconic and beautiful Bicentennial Park at Sydney Olympic Park.
Approximately 6,000 Sydneysiders are expected to attend the FREE event from 12noon-9.00pm on Sunday 26 January, when the jam-packed Australia Day 2014 programme will include an array of food stalls from 12noon, live entertainment and rides to excite from 2.00pm and a dazzling display of fireworks from 8.50pm to finish the festivities with a bang!
Off-stage entertainment will include sheep shearing, whip cracking, sheep dog trial shows, an animal farm, pony and amusement rides, roving performers, Indigenous dance and craft workshops, face-painting and a community bazaar.
On-stage entertainment to also kick-off at 2.00pm with an Aboriginal dance ceremony and Acknowledgement of Country service, will further feature an eclectic line-up of multicultural dance and music performances by South American flute players, Japanese drummers and Polynesian dancers.
An 1800s themed colonial dance performance by Australian Heritage Dancers is also sure to delight in addition to Schools Spectacular 2013 featured artist Anja Nissen, the Wild Armadillos, Gang of Brothers and for the kids, a great new show called Butterscotch's Playground by Greg Page, one of the original Wiggles.
The Official Ceremony will commence at 5.00pm with the Australia Day Ambassador address, Local Citizens of the Year awards and a welcoming ceremony of approximately 50 new Australian citizens.
From 8:00pm, Gang of Brothers will fire-up the crowd before the spectacular fireworks grand finale to cap-off Australia Day 2014 at Sydney Olympic Park where FREE BBQ facilities are also available at Bicentennial Park.
