Australian school students are invited to participate in a four-monthlong
interactive writing project in which they will help Hot Key Books
author Fleur Hitchcock write her next children's novel.

UK author Fleur Hitchcock's The Story Adventure is a writing
experiment aimed at seven to 10 year-old readers who will provide
ideas and feedback to assist Fleur write the sequel to SHRUNK!

In her intro video, Fleur says she wants ideas "the madder the better”
so the story could follow a general story arc or it could go completely
out into nowhere.

Either way, Fleur and Hot Key Books are determined to give young
readers the opportunity to make their voices heard and to have a
chance to influence a story in their own way.

Announcing the project (fleurhitchcock.wordpress.com), Fleur says:
"This is what we hope the Story Adventure can do - give vent to
those imaginations, let children come up with random ideas that they
DON'T have to spell properly, give children some ownership, and
give them something to read that they REALLY want.”

Parents will remember the excitement of Choose Your Own
Adventure books from childhood and flipping back and forth
between the pages to read every possibility.

Hot Key Books encourages parents, teachers and librarians to get on
board and inspire young readers to participate.

The full Story Adventure starts on 21 January 2013, but kids can
enjoy some pre-Christmas fun, including naming the book.
