How would you describe your music?

It's definitely a variation of pop music with singer/songwriter and acoustic overtones.

Can you tell us about (your new song/upcoming gig/video)?

The new song, 'Are You Done', is a cheeky take on the difficulties of navigating relationships. It talks about the repercussions of not being straight forward or transparent in your intentions and how not saying what you really mean can end in a vicious cycle of misunderstandings.  

What inspired (your new song/upcoming gig/video)?

It actually started off with the title 'Are You Done.' Those three words are said within so many different contexts and I thought it was an interesting concept to begin with. When I brought the idea to my co-writer, Danny, we started to brainstorm about all the funny stories that we'd both had asking people if they were done. This is where it all began. 

What are you musical influences?

In terms of music as a whole, I find inspiration in a lot of things. I learned how to play the piano from my mum and grandmother so they definitely influenced the initial stages of my musical journey. In terms of song writing, I love John Mayer and Sara Bareilles. I think that the way they craft their lyrics to articulate their emotions through a song is truly something special.

What motivates you most when writing music?

I think I mostly find motivation when experiencing the challenges of everyday life. I'm quite a reflective person so I'm always thinking about the way the world works and why we react the way we do to certain things and I guess that's where the song writing process starts for me.   

Definitely just convincing myself to keep going and believing in my craft regardless of the many doors that just wouldn't open. I think that being in this industry, you have to take the little wins when you can and appreciate the little steps forward that you take. When I do feel discouraged, I normally look back on where I was just a year ago and be thankful for how far I've come since then.

What's next, for you?
Playing a single launch show in October then hopefully releasing some more music after that. Hopefully working towards releasing an EP sometime next year.
