People come from everywhere,
To the place we call Down Under.
And when you think of what we have -
Well, it isn't any wonder.
From Alice Springs - the kookaburra with the broken wing - to a kelpie named Bob who is not too pretty, this great collection of Aussie songs and CD from well-known songwriter and performer Don Spencer will amuse the young - and the young at heart - for hours.
Each song is brought to life by Australian illustrator Michelle Pike who captures the Australian humour with energy and colour.
Don Spenceris most known for hosting ABC TV Playschool for 28 years. He has published over 500 songs and has won many awards for his albums. During Don's time on the program, he recorded and released albums that helped to educate children mostly about the many species of Australian animals. In 2007, Don was awarded the Order of Australia Medal for his service to children's music and television as songwriter and performer and through the establishment of the Australian Children's Music Foundation.
Michelle Pikeis an Australian artist and book illustrator who brings to us a unique and wonderful perspective on Australian colour, culture, bad habits and humour. Michelle believes that humour is an understated element of cultural expression. Originally from Western Australia, Michelle attributes her understanding of the Australian landscape and its vivid colours to her many childhood trips to the outback. As such, in true anthropomorphic style, she captures the Australian sense of humour perfectly through the whimsical integration of Australian fauna and flora into her works.
