Dermalogica Concealing Spot Treatment
Newly reformulated double duty Dermalogica 'Concealing Spot Treatment, treats and conceals.
Dermalogica's dedication to the consumer's healthiest skin is founded upon prevention and proactive habits which intercept breakouts and other dermal issues. However, even with the best care, blemishes occasionally occur. With this in mind, Dermalogica has updated and upgraded Concealing Spot Treatment, an effective alternative to products containing Benzoyl Peroxide.
The original formulation, a sulfur suspension packaged with a glass bottle-dropper, has been modified to better suit customer needs. The creamier, more highly concentrated product is easier to apply for a consistently flawless finish.
First launched as part of Dermalogica's MediBac Clearing® segment created to treat ubiquitous adult acne, the new formula treats skin conditions that may trigger comedones (pimples or blemishes), as well as camouflaging the spot with a neutral Iron Oxide tint. The product was developed for continuous daytime use after cleansing of the blemish with Clearing Skin Wash."We are not a cosmetic company," comments Dermalogica Founder and Owner, Jane Wurwand. "Our brand is devoted exclusively to skin health. However, we are sensitive to the needs of our customers. When a spot appears on their face, the first concern experienced by many people is to cover it. We want to restore their confidence by effectively concealing the spot, while at the same time tackling the underlying causes."
The primary actives of this product-Sulfur, plus a blend of Niacinamide, Zinc Gluconate, Salicylic Acid, Yeast Extract, Cinnamomum Zeylanicum (Cinnamon) Bark, Caffeine and Biotin-arrest bacterial activity "on the spot." The newly added ingredient is hydrolyzed Ceratonia Siliqua, or Carob Seed Extract, a botanical source used as an anti-inflammatory.The legume Carob has been a Middle Eastern and Mediterranean health care staple for 5,000 years, used for everything from easing the pain of infant teething to soothing indigestion. In the newly reformulated Concealing Spot Treatment, Carob accelerates the recovery of stressed skin tissue, allowing skin to repair and re-moisturise itself in tandem with the purifying action of the bioactives.
Wurwand notes that adult acne, which differs from teen acne, evidences a marked upswing in recent years. She also notes that women frequently experience breakouts and mild acne on the chin. The culprit is often hormonal; however fabric softeners can also be a contributing factor. "Fabric softeners, embedded in a pillowcase and pressed into the skin for several hours each night, coat the skin as well as the bed-linens. A waxy, occlusive softener antagonises an area which may be prone to periodic flare-ups," she cautions.
Dermalogica revolutionised the skin care industry when it emerged into the marketplace in 1986 with innovativeformulations, which excluded common irritants, including SD alcohol, Lanolin, mineral oil and artificial colours andfragrances. Jane Wurwand developed the products to better support the advanced curriculum she had developed afew years earlier for The International Dermal Institute, which she also founded. Beginning with Dermal Clay Cleanser,Multi-Active Toner, Skin Smoothing Cream and Skin Prep Scrub, which remain among the company's top-sellerstoday, Wurwand led the company's growth from an idea to the world's most-requested professional skin care brand.
Dermalogica has been selected as one of UK's CoolBrands® for five years in a row.
