Synopsis: Dear John is a romance film about a Special Forces army soldier who falls for a conventional, University of North Carolina, student while he's home on two weeks leave and she is on spring break. The couple meets after soldier, John Tyree, jumps into the water to retrieve Savannah Curtis's wallet that had fallen off the pier.

Savannah is using her spring break to build a house for Habitat for Humanity and John joins in to help build the home and from here their romance blooms to deep love. Savannah has to return to college and promises to write to John whilst he completes his final year of overseas service. Their true love is tested when John reenlists after the September 11 attack.

Verdict: The movie explores the experiences of different relationships and their consequences throughout a seven year period, such as; the relationships between families, a country, lovers and ones team.

The romantic drama is definitely a tear jerker with a couple of intense make out scenes- I would definitely suggest taking a box of tissues!

The two main stars are portrayed as the 'perfect characters' although we are shown John with a difficult past. John, the near-perfect male, is not only handsome but sensitive and quite dorky. As a dedicated solider, John re-enlists at a time when his country needs him most, after the September 11 attacks. Savannah isn't your typical blonde college student, her character is undeniably caring and sweet; building houses for the homeless and dreaming of opening her own camp for special children.

Don't be taken by the first scene, I promise it is not a spoiler and like many of Nicholas Sparks movies, Dear John, is slow moving and doesn't completely end, leaving you wondering... A traditional Nicholas Sparks love story, Dear John does not follow the same lines as Notebook, but is a great flick for those who love romance films.

I was however left wondering which love conquers all?
